I was in your same EXACT sitoatiun about five years ago. Fights galore – because of miscommunication.
And, ours lasted over two years.
We were both miserable.
The misery eventually moved out of the bedroom..the house…and into our other friendships and professional lives.What do you say to them?
I found out there is only one thing to say – “You and I are having communication problems.
And, it is greatly influencing the direction our relationship is taking.
We either need to work on it …or things will only get worse.”In hindsight, the issue is the baggage.
She (like anyone else with baggage) first needs to tend to that before they can commit to a relationship or else it will follow them regardless of who they are with. In my sitoatiun I see both of us were not in a position to be in a relationship (with anyone).
If she can’t respect your feelings and attempt to work through it – its going to be a very rough ride. And, then breaking up is the only course of action.
(It hurts but you also have to think about your happiness).
I half-heartily disagree with the advice to see a counselor if she isn’t on board to fix it with you….it doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be able to fix with a therapist.
It is their effort to improve themselves first and then the relationship will naturally improve.
(Most of the time).
